Mopar power made big news at the DynoMax Power to the Wheels Dyno Tour Championship Shootout at Springfield, Missouri, as Hemi and RB-powered Mopars swept the first three positions in the Non-Power-Adder class.
Scoring the win was Darren Tedder, whose aluminum Hemi-powered '71 'Cuda twisted the chassis dyno's horsepower gauge up to an eye-popping 956.83. Taking second in the all-motor class was Richard Burdette's Hemi-powered '69 Dart, which made 749.69 hp. Rounding out the top three was Jim LaRoy, whose RB-powered '72 Demon was good for 696.48 hp.
The Non-Power-Adder class was where no add-ons like superchargers, turbochargers, or nitrous oxide injection were permitted. (They ran in their own class.) The DynoMax Power to the Wheels Dyno Tour concluded with its Championship Shootout at the Street Machine Nationals in Springfield, Missouri. To qualify for the Championship, the drivers had to dyno run their vehicle at a Qualifying Event during the Power to the Wheels series that started back in May.
