10-second F.A.S.T.It may not have been an official F.A.S.T. (Factory Appearing Stock Tire) qualifying event, but history was made at Milan raceway, a small quarter-mile drag strip in Michigan, when F.A.S.T. competitor Jack Irons Sr. of Ortonville, Michigan, piloted Jeff Harrell's '69 Road Runner. During one of their testing sessions, Jack piloted the Runner to a first ever sub-11-second quarter-mile e.t. That may not seem that impressive to some with full-boogie race cars, until you factor in that even though this Road Runner is sporting a Hemi, it still breathes through a stock intake manifold and exhales through stock exhaust manifolds.
It was like any other night at the track when Jack Irons Sr., Jack Irons Jr., and Russ Aderholdt tested the car, tuned the car, and then ran an amazing 10.99 second e.t. at 128.90 mph. The guys definitely had their game faces on when they backed it up with a quicker 10.87 second e.t. at 130.01 mph. Like we said, it may not have been a F.A.S.T sanctioned event, but you gotta hand it to Jack and the guys for pulling this off.
